Officials say 62 now missing after Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP accident
MOSCOW/KHAKASIA. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Russian official said 62 people were now unaccounted for following the Monday's accident that flooded a turbine room at the giant Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power plant in Siberia.
Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu said this was an adjusted figure. Shoigu said the death toll, earlier reported to be 12, was unchanged.
"We have statements from relatives saying 62 people are missing," Shoigu told reporters at the scene.
