OAK BROOK, Ill., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Envirodyne Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: EDYN) today announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Whirley Industries, Inc. for the sale of Envirodyne's wholly owned subsidiary Sandusky Plastics, Inc. headquartered in Sandusky, Ohio. Sandusky Plastics produces thermoformed plastic promotional and vending cups and containers for cultured dairy products, delicatessen, foodservice and other uses. The sale is subject to normal contingencies, including the completion of due diligence, receipt of necessary approvals and execution of a definitive purchase agreement. The sale is expected to be consummated in early June 1998.
