As a result of consumer identity theft protection laws, businesses are scrambling to locate vendors and sub-contractors that meet their consumer protection requirements. Regardless of size or geographic location, Massachusetts 201 CMR 17 requires all businesses to verify outsourced service providers meet the minimum requirements of 201 CMR 17 prior to allowing those providers access to personal information on a resident of the Commonwealth.
