I, like most lesbians, believe that I was born gay. However, on the micro-thin chance that the jury was out during my formative years, my Sapphic fate was cemented in January 1976. That was when America, including 6-year-old me, got its first look at Lindsay Wagner as Jaime Sommers--aka the Bionic Woman. I was a starry-eyed, impressionable tomboy, and even though I had absolutely no understanding of same-sex attraction, I was captivated by this larger-than-life small-screen character, week after week.
