Months after Environment Canada launched an investigation into Halifax s sewage treatment plant, the federal agency continues to get inquiries from local taxpayers wondering if Ottawa is looking into the plant s breakdown.
A spokesman stopped short Wednesday of classifying those queries as complaints, but said people are contacting his office in Dartmouth with concerns about the faulty plant.
The $54-million facility, near the downtown core, has been the source of putrid smells on some days in parts of downtown. Ottawa is not looking into the odour problem, but is investigating the sewage problem under the Fisheries Act.
