The commander of Iran's Navy boasts that piracy off Somalia has almost ended as a result of the deployment of Iranian warships to the area.
He made no mention of the warships of 16 other countries that are operating off Somalia. Nor did he mention the fact that the volume of piracy incidents has actually increased since the Iranian Navy became involved.
Addressing a Navy cadet training center in Sirjan last Thursday, the Fars news agency reported Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said, "The devilish phenomenon of piracy has almost been uprooted in the northern Indian Ocean as a result of the presence of the Islamic ...
