PITTSBURGH -- This was supposed to be the stretch where the Milwaukee Brewers made up ground.
With a much more forgiving schedule during the final three weeks of August, the Brewers would hoist themselves back into contention.
So much for that thought.
The free-falling Brewers lost 3-1 to the Pirates Wednesday night, giving host Pittsburgh a three-game sweep.
At this point, does it matter who Milwaukee plays? Pittsburgh entered the series on a four-game losing streak, having lost 12 of 13 and 17 of 20.
