NORMALLY I'm not one for vigilantes but, in the case of Stefan Gatward, I'll make an exception.

The 62-year-old soldier turned Anglican chaplain was so angry with developers in Tunbridge Wells for misspelling his address on street signs -- calling it St Johns Close -- that, last week, he got out a paintbrush and added the missing apostrophe, changing it to St John's Close.

Three days later, some illiterate jobsworth rubbed out his good work. Sadly, Mr Gatward hasn't got the time to go round the country with a can of paint. But if he did, I'd be at his side in an instant, brush in hand, correcting every pound of tomato's ...
