Abstract
The purpose of this study is to introduce biblical interpreters to the concepts found in Ritual Studies. The reader is introduced to some theorists and methods used within the context of Ritual Studies. Throughout, the reader is also introduced to the vocabulary of rituals found in ancient texts as well as examples found throughout Greco-Roman literature. Finally, this study turns toward rituals in the First and Second Testaments. In this final section, the vocabulary of ritual is discussed as well as examples of rituals found by scholars in both the First and Second Testaments.
