Marisa Berenson is reminiscing about her grandmother Elsa Schiaparelli, the famed couturier who sent jaws dropping onto the Parisian catwalk--and set much of the vernacular of 20th-century fashion design--when she trotted out gowns with slits up the sides and zippers across the groin, transparent coats, and hats resembling shoes and lamb chops.
