Article: BJP in a fix as Jaswant still heads House panel.

IT WAS a bad day for the BJP, and not just because of the public embarrassment that followed Arun Shourie's offensive. The party is set to lose its clout in Lok Sabha.

The BJP had recommended Jaswant Singh as their nominee for the post of the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee ( PAC) during the budgetcum- monsoon session. Two other leaders -- Yashwant Sinha and Gopinath Munde -- were appointed members of the PAC. But now that Jaswant has been expelled from the BJP, the party wants to replace him as PAC chairman with Gopinath Munde.

Sources said the BJP has communicated to the former external affairs minister that he should resign from the post.
