Albert Owen fears the closure of the Anglesey Aluminium smelter next month, with the loss of nearly 400 jobs, will have a devastating effect on the island.
The Anglesey Labour MP wants the [pounds sterling]48m offered to the company to be made available to help find new work.
Calling for special status he said: I have already made the argument with appropriate ministers in Cardiff and London to make Anglesey a special case for future investment following the decision by Anglesey Aluminium Metals to cease smelting operations at Holyhead.
