In the big-picture heat of the pennant race, Syracuse Chiefs hurler Josh Wilkie took his eye off one very small but crucial detail Monday night.
He needed to keep Durham's Justin Ruggiano a little closer to second base.
Instead, Ruggiano pulled off a gutsy swipe of third in the eighth inning and then scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Michel Hernandez as the Bulls stole a vital 3-2 win at Alliance Bank Stadium.
"That's what happens when you don't pay attention," said Syracuse manager Tim Foli. "When you play close games, you can't make mistakes."
