Infant insulin problem cured surgically at Philly hospital

Demonstrating the value of teamwork, specialists at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) are helping to cure newborns of a rare but serious insulin condition without causing diabetes.
Infants diagnosed with focal congenital hyperinsulinism (HI) have excess levels of insulin that cause low blood sugar. Left untreated, the condition may lead to seizures or irreversible brain damage.
