Alcon completes sale to AMO; FischerHealth being acquired

A Medical Device Daily Staff Report

Alcons (Fort Worth, Texas) wholly owned subsidiary, Alcon CUSI, S.A. (Hunenberg, Switzerland), reported completing the sale of its contact lens care solutions manufacturing facility in Madrid, Spain, to AMO Manufacturing Spain S.L., a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Medical Optics (AMO; Santa Ana, California) for about $22 million.

Alcon will realize a pre-tax gain of about $8 million from the sale, which has been incorporated into the companys prior earnings guidance for 4Q03.
