With concessions, FDA panel backs silicone breast implants

GAITHERSBURG, Maryland In what could be called a last-minute save, members of the General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel of the FDAs Center for Devices and Radiological Health voted 9-6 Wednesday afternoon to recommend approval of Inameds (Santa Barbara, California) silicone breast implants.
The turnaround in philosophy of the panel was attributed to a list of concessions Inamed presented during its summation argument before the panelists cast their votes at the culmination of a two-day meeting.
