Caliper cuts 10% of workforce

Caliper Technologies (Mountain View, California) said it had reduced its workforce by another 26 positions, representing 10% of its workforce.

The maker of microfluidic lab-on-a-chip systems for diagnostic, pharmaceutical research and chemical industry applications said the estimated annual savings from the cuts would be $2.6 million. It said it expects to take a restructuring charge of about $286,000 in 2Q03.

Caliper carried out an earlier workforce cutback last September.
