With access to many crude oil opportunities around the world closed off, Exxon Mobil has been turning to natural gas, both in North America and internationally, to boost its reserves and production.
The company's enormous position in Qatar's vast liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other gas operations is well known (OD Jun.10,p5) and Exxon also has large stakes in several Australian LNG ventures (OD Aug.19,p1).
Less well known is the assortment of North American gas projects the Big Tiger has assembled in recent years, especially among unconventional gas plays.
