Pouchard and Associates, for the French Famirea group, conducted this prospective multicenter study to determine the prevalence of and factors associated with symptoms of anxiety and depression in family members of ICU patients. The study was conducted in 43 ICUs in France (37 adult, 6 pediatric). Each unit included 15 patients admitted for longer than 2 days. Data were obtained from 920 family members of 637 patients.
