The city and Palm Beach County are more than $857,000 apart on negotiations to reconcile a 2008 water-supply agreement, a recent memo from the county attorney's office shows.
City commissioners agreed in April 2008 to purchase water from the county after the city was denied permits to discharge waste into the ocean from its proposed reverse-osmosis water plant. The additional water is needed because withdrawals from the city's existing wells are being curtailed by the South Florida Water Management District.
