French transportation major Alstom is planning to set up a metro rail coach factory near Chennai.

Sources in the Government of Andhra Pradesh confirmed to Business Line that Alstom is looking to put up the facility at the upcoming industrial township, Sri City, some 40 km north of Chennai, within the borders of Andhra Pradesh.

Investment details have been kept under wraps. Sources said that the details would be revealed when the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, would formally make an announcement on this while on a visit to the Sri City SEZ on September 9. Alstom did not respond to a request for a ...
