A collection of U.S. government health and national security agencies urged companies across the country last week to prepare for a fall outbreak of the H1N1 virus that could cause employee-absence rates two to three times higher than those typically seen during flu season.
The somber advisory was soon outmatched in New York City's corporate corridors by the Big Apple's "been there, done that mentality. After all, last spring the city was considered one of the epicenters of the new swine-flu virus, with nearly 2,800 diagnosed cases.
