When a hose customer takes delivery on a new product, the only real concern is that the hose performs as advertised.
There likely is little thought given to all the development and technical work that occurs before the product becomes a hose. That includes such steps as development of raw materials, making sure the product can be manufactured efficiently, and testing to ensure the hose meets expected performance parameters.
