Evaluation of PC-SPES in Prostate Cancer Patients
ABSTRACT & COMMENTARY
Synopsis: A Phase II study of the herbal supplement PC-SPES was performed with 33 androgen-dependent prostate cancer (ADPCa) patients and 37 androgen-independent prostate cancer (AIPCa) patients. All of the ADPCa patients achieved a PSA decline of greater than 80%, with a median duration of this response being greater than 57 wk. Nineteen (54%) of 35 AIPCa patients had a PSA decline of greater than 50%, with a median time to PSA progression of 16 wk (range, 2-69+ wk).
