ArcelorMittal Frydek-Mistek (former Valcovny plechu), a producer of cold-rolled steel products, posted a record-high profit worth Kc600.32m last year, a rise of 13 percent from 2007, spokeswoman Vera Breiova told CTK Wednesday.
Sales grew to Kc3.9bn from Kc3.5bn in 2007.
The business result was achieved mainly thanks to the manufacture of transformer plates as well as measures to make production more effective.
Transformer plates are used for transformer cores. Plates made in Frydek-Mistek are especially used in so-called distribution transformers. There are 13 producers of these parts in the world.
