PTI reported that keen on expediting capacity expansion of the major ports in the country, the government has awarded INR 479 crore project for construction of a coal berth at the Paradip port.

Shipping Ministry officials told PTI that the project has been given to a consortium led by Essar Shipping Ports and Logistics on 31% revenue sharing basis. The berth would have a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum and has to be constructed within 36 months from the date of the award.
