MILLBURY - In stark contrast to the political firestorm that was sparked in Oxford, the Board of Selectmen has accepted the water company's explanation for a rate increase and adjustment.
Harry Hibbard, vice president of Aquarion Water Co., told selectmen earlier this week that a 20 percent rate hike approved by the state Department of Public Utilities and an adjustment to account for revenue loss due to a billing error over a three-year period does not reflect an 81 percent increase, an issue that has caused furor in Oxford and prompted state Sen.
