Petroterminal de Panama (PTP) announced Thursday that it has made the first crude oil shipment from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean along its 81-mile pipeline across the Isthmus of Panama.
The shipment of an undisclosed amount of Colombia's Castilla blend will be processed at the California facilities of Tesoro Corp., the US West Coast refiner said.
It marks the first use of the pipeline--built in the 1970s to carry Alaskan crude eastward--following the recently completed reversal of its flow to a west-to-east direction.
