Manila: Eleven communist rebels were killed and two government militiamen and a civilian were wounded during an attack on a military detachment in central Philippines, a military spokesman said.
Members of the communist New People's Army (NPA) withdrew with the bodies of 11 comrades after an hour-long firefight with soldiers at Cancaiyas village, Samar, on Sunday, said Major Armand Rico, spokesman of the Philippine Army's 8th Infantry Division.
