When I wrote last week about 12 deals for each day at the fair, several readers grumbled online about overpriced food and a sucker being born every minute. Mr. Barnum would surely love the fair for its conspicuous consumption of everything, especially if he owned a piece of it. It's easy to assume that there are no great deals at the fair, despite the ubiquitous "State Fair specials." So Dollars & Sense went to the grandstand, Creative Living building and Merchandise Mart to see if we're all a bunch of suckers or savers.
