The JV plant of Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Ltd (GACL) and Dow Europe GmbH, at GACL's Dahej Complex in Bharuch district of Gujarat, is likely to be delayed till November 2009. The delay is likely to be due to the recession and problems like timely procurement of raw material.
The proposed project envisaged setting up of an environment-friendly chloromethane plant at an investment of Rs 600 crore. The plant is likely to be operationalised by 2011.
