Abu Dhabi: Emirates Steel has increased its production capacity from 650,000 tonnes in 2006 to two million tonnes in 2009, marking the completion of phase 1 of its expansion, the company said in a statement.
Phase 2 of the Dh9 billion expansion plan, scheduled for completion in the final quarter of 2011, will increase the company's production capacity to three million tonnes per annum, increase the plant's total area to two square kilometres and introduce heavy and jumbo steel sections to the product portfolio.
The company's further expansion plans will take its production capacity to 6.5 million tonnes annually by 2015, ...
