Ukrainian steel majors cut output in 8 mths, decline still slowing

KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Most of Ukraine's steel majors again reduced finished roll production considerably in January-August 2009, although the decline in the industry still seems to be slowing.

ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (formerly Kryvorizhstal), the country's biggest steel mill, reduced finished roll production tentatively 32.5% year-on-year to 2.946 million tonnes, the company told Interfax.

Azovstal said it reduced roll output 33% year-on-year to 2.564 million tonnes, Zaporizhstal reduced it 23.3% to 1.82 million tonnes and the Ilich works from Mariupol slashed output 43% to ...
