Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc's first quarter net earnings were positively affected by earnings stemming from sound management by Couche-Tard of its operating expenses, acquisitions, an increase in same-store merchandise revenues and motor fuel volume, a decrease in expenses related to electronic payment modes created by the lower motor fuel retail price, a decrease in financial expenses as well as a lower effective income tax rate.
