The official launch of the American Samoa commemorative quarter-dollar will kick off September 3, at 10 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-11), in Pago Pago. United States Mint Deputy Director Andy Brunhart and American Samoa Governor Togiola T.A. Tulafono will preside over the event, which includes an exchange of currency for the new American Samoa quarter. Everyone under 18 years of age will receive a new quarter. The free event is open to the public and the media (see also United States Mint).
