THE SUDDEN disappearance of the helicopter carrying Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ( YSR) and the inability of the security agencies to trace YSR or the chopper has plunged the 24, Akbar Road Congress headquarters in a pall of gloom.

The mood in adjacent 10, Janpath, residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi was equally grim.

Late on Wednesday evening, a worried Sonia directed senior party leaders and Union ministers to rush to Hyderabad to monitor the situation.
