MORE than 14,000 Bahrain University students are being told to stay away, following a last-minute decision to delay the start of the new term to guard against a swine flu outbreak.
The university will now open immediately after Eid, instead of the scheduled September 15, its board of directors announced yesterday.
Its decision comes as the third person in four days died of swine flu in Bahrain.
"This decision comes after deep study and a series of talks with the authorities concerned to further safeguard staff and students at the university," board chairman Dr Ibrahim Janahi said in a statement.
