Groupe Eurotunnel (GETP.PA) and French state-owned railway company SNCF said on Wednesday they had bought Veolia Cargo, the rail freight businesses belonging to Veolia (VIE.PA).
Veolia said in July it was in exclusive talks with the two buyers to sell the unit. It said at the time the sale would cut its debt by 95 million euros.
SNCF has taken over rail companies based in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy, while Eurotunnel is acquiring the French branch of Veolia Cargo Socorail, Veolia Cargo France, Veolia Cargo LInk and CFTA Cargo, the two buyers said in a statement.
