I would like to offer a corrective to the Aug. 15 article: "Sisters meet as inquiries loom." Leaving to the women religious to respond to the issues the article raises, I do want to offer a comment on one of the "doctrinal assessments" raised in the article: the call to "declare the Catholic Church the only path to salvation."
The Catholic Church has not and does not teach that it has a monopoly on salvation -- a kind of "Catholics only need apply" sign at heaven's gate. While believing that Jesus Christ is Lord and savior and we come to salvation through, with and in him, that teaching does not ...
