Globally, mental health is a prevalent health issue, with up to one in four people experiencing a mental illness in a 12-month period (The WHO World Mental Health Survey Consortium, 2004). The World Health Organization (WHO, 2001 a) predicts that mental illness will become the second leading health problem in the future.
