Article: Jarir Marketing H1 '09 net profit up to USD 48m.(Financial report)

(ADPnews) - Sep 4, 2009 - Saudi Riyadh-based wholesale and retail trading company Jarir Marketing (SAU:4190), also known as Jarir Bookstore, registered a 9.6% year-on-year increase in net profit for the first half of 2009 to SAR 179.9 million (USD 48m/EUR 33.6m) from SAR 164.2 million a year ago.

The increase was chiefly due to higher sales of computer accessories and school supplies during the six-month period. The company's sales rose to SAR 1.235 billion in the first half of 2009 from SAR 1.215 billion in the same period last year.

The earnings per share (EPS) stood at SAR 4.5, up from SAR 4.1.
