Taipei, Aug. 24, 2009 (CENS) -- With positive factors, including a recovering global economy and popularity of LED (light emitting diode)-backlit LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs and notebook PCs, Taiwanese backlight module suppliers enjoyed solid sales and profit performance in the second quarter of this year, offsetting their business declines in the first quarter due to a global downturn.

Coretronic Corp., for instance, scored net profits of NT$570 million (US$17.272 million at US$1: NT$33), or NT$0.76 (US$0.023) per share, in the second quarter of the year, shooting up 300% from the first quarter, effectively pushing up its aggregate EPS (earnings per share) ...
