India hydro developer NHPC Ltd. seeks bids for development of the 330-MW Kishanganga hydroelectric project as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project. Bids are due September 16, 2009.

NHPC awarded a contract in January to a consortium of Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. (HCC) of India and Halcrow Group Ltd. U.K.

Kishanganga is to be built on the Jhelum River tributary in the Bandipora and Gurez Valley of Jammu & Kashmir State. The project includes construction of a 37-meter-tall concrete-faced rockfill dam, a 23.5-kilometer tunnel, and an underground powerhouse with three 110-MW turbine-generators.
