BEIJING, Sept 8 Asia Pulse - China should introduce a carbon tax as soon as possible to cope with the issue of the US government's likely enacting of its own carbon tax bill on overseas products, as this would protect the profitability of China's exporting businesses by preventing them from being squashed by sluggish overseas demand, suggested Fan Gang, head of the Institute of National Economic Research.

Fan said the U.S. and Europe have taken low-carbon economy as new economic growth engine, aiming at limiting consumption by higher product prices and reducing carbon emissions in foreign countries, especially in developing countries.
