In Block-12, al-Rayyan has been operated by Oxy since mid-2007. The field was found by Anadarko of the US which brought it on stream in November 1996 at 20,000 b/d of heavy oil from four wells and temporary production facilities. Its capacity was first raised to 35,000 b/d from 12 wells. Its temporary platform was replaced with a refurbished jack-up facility. Anadarko raised the field's capacity to 70,000 b/d by developing its northern and southern extensions and installing an EOR system with work completed in 2006. Oxy's 7.5% partner in this Marubeni Corp of Japan. Al-Rayyan now produces 60,000 b/d.
Anadarko in May 2007 sold its 92.5% in Blocks 12 and 13 to Oxy ...
