Dukhan, found in October 1938 by the then concessionaire, BP-led Qatar Petroleum Co. (QPC), is a super-giant of 2,000 sq km located on the south-western coast of the Qatari peninsula. It produces a blend of crude oils called Dukhan or Qatar Land, 42? API with 1.2% sulphur. The field consists of several connected zones, of which the producers are Khatiya, Fahaheel, Juleiha and Diyab. Their reservoirs are the Upper/Lower Arab C, Arab D and Uwainat. Arab D has a major gas cap. Diyab is the latest to be developed.
These zones are mostly old, producing 260,000 b/d. Dukhan has a capacity of about 290,000 b/d, down from 335,000 b/d in 2003, compared to 275,000 b/d in ...
