Two of the biggest trucks carrying two of the biggest loads ever to pass through Lane County will lumber through Springfield and Eugene this weekend.
The two trucks are delivering electrical switching equipment that will be part of a major upgrade of the electrical, steam and air conditioning systems at the University of Oregon campus. The $34 million project, the first of two phases, is expected to be completed later this year.
One of the trucks is so big - 233 feet long - and its load so heavy that at times it needs a truck in front pulling and another in the rear pushing. Altogether, the rig is more than ...
