BILL and I ended our remarkable journey to Africa on Goree Island. It is a beautiful place, lined with cobblestone streets and brightly colored houses, and filled with the same warm, resilient and brilliant people we met throughout our trip. But for many years, it was used as a launching pad for one of the greatest evils ever perpetrated by human beings--slavery.
