One of the most curious trends in electronics distribution is the changing relationship between resellers and contract manufacturers.
Just a few years ago, distributors and contract manufacturers seemed to be at each other's throats. Distributors resented the fact that contract manufacturers often got the same discounts from component manufacturers and bypassed the distribution channel. Contract manufacturers viewed some of the valued-added services that distributors provided as an infringement on their turf. Some distributors set up contract manufacturing operations.
