Pipe bursting replaces conventional directional drilling on some utility projects.
Trenchless technologies have become a significant force in the construction industry with static pipe bursting, in particular, growing exponentially during the last few years. In the Midwest, significant projects have taken place in Wisconsin, North and South Dakota and, most recently, Minnesota.
Red Pederson Utilities, St. Louis Park, MN, completed a large bursting project for the Minneapolis suburb of Edina that included pipe bursting approximately 17,700 feet of cast iron water main and an additional 3,800 feet of VCP sewer main.
